Australasian Gaming Briefing online

The Gaming Technologies Association (GTA) today advised that last Monday’s Australasian Gaming Briefing sessions are available online here.

“The Briefing was a significant part of the Expo and a significant part of the industry calendar” said GTA’s Chief Executive, Ross Ferrar.  “All the sessions are worthy of viewing and a huge range of topics were discussed”.

Hon Kevin Greene MP, NSW’s Minister for Gaming and Racing, welcomed delegates and noted that GTA members directly employ around 2,200 people and generate annual export revenue of around $1 billion for Australia.

Channel 9’s Business and Finance Editor, Ross Greenwood, outlined a broad range of financial indicators and suggested that the financial system is on the mend – for now – and noted that the Hospitality Industry is affected by many of the aspects of the financial crisis, by ability to finance, vibrancy of the pub and club scene, by the development of technology and by increased or decreased leisure time.

Cheryl Vardon, CEO of the Australasian Gaming Council and Nadine Grinblat, Senior Research and Communications Manager, provided an overview of the current environment for each Australasian jurisdiction.

Dr Keith Suter moderated a panel of industry specialists whose focus was on a range of “What If…?” questions, centred around what could happen in and around gaming and hospitality – and how industry can prepare.

Next year’s Australasian Gaming Expo is scheduled for Sunday 8th, Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th August.  More information is available at www.austgamingexpo.com.
